In Guinness' bio, his foster mom wrote that he plays only one part of fetch. That's frenchie fetch for ya! Well, the other night I was able to get Guinness to keep bringing his toy back to me. We did it 5-6 times before we ended the game. Yay!
Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks.

Toys!
Talk about spoiled! These boys have more than they can use. Mom gathered all our stuff together and put it in a special ottoman just for us in the living room.
Ohhh so many of MY toys.

Basil: Hmm, what shall I NOT let Guinn play with today?

Arghh I'll let you play with this mouse leg.

Guinn: Basil never lets me play with anything ((hmph))

Just call me Mr. Slick
Over July 4th weekend, I spent the weekend with my cousins down at the shore. My auntie Sugar and I played a lot together that weekend. Well, mom packed my stuff and brought my favorite steak chewie which was a gift from Mr. Gibbs on my birfday. Ahh, do I love that steak! Tastes like delicious bacon.

Well, guess who else liked it? Auntie Sugar. She nabbed my steak while I was getting rubs from dad. I didn't mind...at first.

I watched as she chewed on my delicious steak. I can only imagine the bacon flavored slober going down her throat instead of mine.

Gently I nudged "May I I I have it .... back .... puleease?" I didn't mean to look like a wimp or anything, but I really love that steak and I was afraid she would eat it all. I nuzzled and sniffed and kissed her on the head.

Good Toys

When I go shopping, I always scour the "pets" section for good toys or other dog gear (aka cute clothes eh hem eh hem). Finding a good toy is hard to come by in my opinion. Basil really loves the soft toys. He's snagged a few of my stuffed animals on my bed which I've had to rescue. He's been given some very soft toys for Christmas. We watch him very closely when he has one of those. As soon as he rips them (within the evening), we toss it in the trash. It's not worth the trouble they can cause. FBRN mommy Joan gave Basil a really good toy which lasted MONTHS.
I bought Basil a new toy ring that I found at HomeGoods. It's one of those super tough soft toys. We both love it because I can wrap my hand around it to play tug of war with him which he loves. Also, it has the "beep beeps" around the whole ring and Basil loves squeezing it and making the beep beep sound.
Also, we take the toy away after playing. He goes into chewing mode in the evenings, so we switch out his toy with the bone when he wants to chew instead of chewing the toy down. It also keeps him interested in the toy longer.
What toys do you like?

Smartest Dog Ever!
Basil is the smartest dog in the whole wide world! (At least in my eyes)
Today we were playing with his toy (that FBRN foster mom Joan gave him). He really loves this toy and it's the only thing that's held up in all these months. Every other toy (including his nylabones) we've been tossing out every so often.
I throw this toy and he fetches it and brings it back to me. We play tug of war and I throw it again and he retrieves it again. We went outside with it and did it outside. He got distracted and left it on the deck while he went to go sniff around in the yard. When it was time to go inside the house, I told him "Basil, go get your toy". He got it but then dropped it again before going into the house. I asked him again, "Basil, go get your toy and bring it inside". I think he knows the word "inside". He went back out, picked up his toy and brought it back inside and dropped it on the floor inside.
He's so smart!!! I LOVE HIM!!!!

Catch me if you can
Basil played catch with me outside for the first time. Usually he just gets distracted, but we had a good run today.
