FBRN Fundraiser in Philly!

We had another successful fundraiser on Saturday at Chic Petique in Philadelphia. To see all our photos, go here.

What a great set up!

We met FBRN foster Uma. She is incredibly sweet and makes a purring/sighing sound when you cuddle her. Look at her purty dress.

We got to see Mr. Gibbs again who was dressed up as E.T.

There were lots of goodies for sale like this new hat.

Ellie Mae and Guinness were workin' the crowd for some mola!

Our pal Tego (right) joined in on the fun! A local frenchie named Henry came dressed in a Devil's costume to enter our costume contest.

FBRN foster wore a beautiful purple gown!

Guinness looked very distinguished with his bow tie.

Basil and the City

No Manolo Blahniks here!

Keith brought Basil into Center City to meet me for lunch in the park. It was such a nice break in the day. Basil was soooo DISTRACTED by all the sights, sounds and smells in the park. Little kids kept going up to him and just patted him on the head and it didn't even faze him. He's such a good dog!

Later that evening, Basil had a play date with none other than TEGO!!! Tego is a big boy now since we last saw him. Tego is a city dog so he was really excited to run around and around and around and around and around the yard. At one point, he did 8 non stop laps around the yard. He was so happy.

Basil greets Tego at the door. What a good host my little man is!

(Basil is the little one. Tego is up front) Here they are getting reacquainted. He and Tego played so well. Tego and Basil were rough housing and it sounded like Tego wasn't liking it, but then he would lay down for it again and have Basil pin him. And then they would get up and do it all over again.

We need to get some play dates together more often!

Our Decision

After dog sitting Tego, he convinced us that it was time that we started a family of our own. He brought us so much joy and entertainment in the two weeks he stayed with us that we wanted a little frenchie of our own. For our lifestyle, a frenchie fits us well and we don't mind a dog that needs some extra special attention to their health.

I started by doing some searches on the internet and asking friends and neighbors who have dogs both from breeders, shelters and rescue networks. We asked questions and got opinions about everything. We read up on the needs of a french bulldog before deciding if this is really the type of dog for us given their needs and possible issues - health, behavior, care, temperament, and training.

Why a Frenchie?
-small size
-short hair
-uber cute!
-not overly dependent (can play by himself)
-will lay on couch & watch tv (my all time fav thing to do)
-good temperament
-good with other dogs and small children
-not barkers
-did I mention they are uber cute!?
