**ON VACATION***

Hello fellow frogs,

I will not be in the office, home or on the couch this weekend. I'm taking a mini-vacay from my extremely exciting life at Casa Brown. I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I return.

Snorts and kisses,
Basil

Basil the Rock Star

Basil may be in a music video. My friend is a new rock band and they are going to be featured on MTV some time soon. They have a bunch of songs and in one of the songs, they are going to play a slide show of photos and I sent in a picture of Basil. I'll let you all know when I hear more.

Baby or Dog?

All the babies and dog mates that mommy has been bringing over might be confusing Basil. That or we need to get his eyes checked.

The other night, the neighbor came over with her baby not a furbaby. Look how cute he is.

Basil was REALLY EXCITED and gestured like he wanted us to put the baby down so he can run around with him and wrastle. Sorry Basil. This baby doesn't walk yet.

Basil sniffed the baby and baby sniffed Basil. Baby petted Basil and started giggling.

Then Basil did the humpty humpty dance...

Flirting with Garlic

I caught up on some much needed gardening and I suppose Basil was a little bored. He sat nicely next to me while I planted some tomatoes. I look over and he's playfully flirting with my garlic. He was nuzzling it and turning his face up and around and down to keep the garlic green on his nose like he was keeping a bubble afloat.

This series of photos are just so cute.

Hmmm what's this?

Nom nom gotcha!

You're not getting away garlic!

Stop ticklng my nose!

Oh alright I'll taste you.
BLEH THAT'S NASTY STUFF. Yuck! (Basil licked it and never ate it unlike my parsley and thyme).

Terrible Teens

Basil's mom here.

Basil is going through his terrible teens. He gave me attitude the other day that I just to tell you all about. It was so funny even though I shouldn't condone this.

See, we have a spare bedroom in the house where I keep all my pretty things including my beloved stuffed animals. Basil already snagged Ducky and tore his eye out. It still sags even though we performed reconstructive surgery on Ducky.

The other day, I put my beloved Kissing Monkeys out on the loveseat. Basil spotted it immediately and jumped up onto the loveseat and sniffed the monkeys like he was about to snag them too. He put his paws up on them and when I saw him, I told him "NO!"

He put one paw down but left the other on the monkeys, bowed his head and looked up at me like "Puuullleeease?" I said, "No!" again.

He pulled his paw down from my monkeys and THREW his head and HUFFED as though to say, "Mom never lets me have anything!"

It was so cute that I just had to laugh about it afterwards. Since then, he hasn't tried to take my Kissing Monkeys.

Basil Meets Bambi

While mommy played with The Baby, baby's aunt brought over a friend for me to play with. Her name is Bambi and she's a "chikawawa" like my human niece calls them. She really means Chihuahua. She's 2 years old and unlike me, she wasn't very lucky with her first 2 homes. She was hit by a car and has no feeling in her left leg/hip. Then she was mauled by a pit bull! Yikes! She survived which makes her a very lucky and strong girl! Now she's with her forever mommy who is super nice to her.

Here she is with her mommy. I let her play with my orange ring. She tried to play with my fuzzy fuzz fuzz ball, but I kinda had to "gently take it away" from her because it's my favorite toy.

I got happy feet during the evening and chased her around. I startled her. I didn't know she would be so sensitive. She was so playful earlier. I tried to coax her to come out by looking cute and pawing at her underneath the loveseat.

It was a long day with so much company. I was pooped and took a little rest. The sun was coming down hard.

Even Bambi got a little help from This Kid who held his hand over her face to sheild her eyes from the sun. See, I told ja that I like These Kid people.

CRISIS!

Calling all frogs! Calling ALL frogs! Calling ALL FROGS! Look. I have never asked you all for anything before, but we have got to unite this one time. Something just horrible happened today. I cannot even speak of it! I'll demonstrate in photos.

Exhibit A: Mommy's legs. Yes, that's me on the floor tapping her. Yes, THE FLOOR! What is that big boulder on her lap taking up all my real estate you ask???!!!!
Exhibit B: A BABY!!! I thought you all said it would be okay! I thought you said they would drop foodables. This one just looked cute and chubby and and and...OH, the horror! The HORROR! Mommy cooed over and held the baby on MY LAP! What did I do to deserve this?!

This one on the other hand is okay. The humans call it a "kid". The kid walked around dropping all kinds of chips and hot dogs. I like this "kid". Mommy and daddy can get one of those.
I was so relieved when the baby went home. It was just me and mommy again. She sat on the porch and held me in her lap. I felt so secure again and the world was what I remembered.

i hope ma will bring me. until then.
i am fondly,
yur Betty"

I will wait for you Betty!

23 Months!

Look at this handsome mug!

Basil is 23 months old. He's still weighing in at 24.5 lbs, but he's really filled out and mature looking. He has really strong leg muscles. He's getting raw veggies to fulfill his dietary needs. The only thing new is that he had some irritated patches on his paw. We think it's due to him being outside while Keith cuts the lawn. His paw cleared up right up after some TLC by moi.

His ears were getting infected again too, so we started administering the ear medicine from the vet again. We still bathe him once a week and clean his ears 2x a week which keeps him itchy free. We are so proud that he's such a good listener. We take him to play with the neighbor dogs and kids and he is soooo well behaved. Basil made a new friend Betty. He also gained a new auntie Sugar. His cousins love him too. Basil learned what a new baby is. Mommy has finally gotten used to sleeping with paws in her back and snorting in her ear. As a reward, Basil got a new harness and new toys. Basil is very smart and has "good breathing", so mommy wants him to do some agility training. He's too smart to stay home all day.

What's next for this handsome dog? Some agility/obedience training and a 2 year old BIRTHDAY PARTAYYY!!!!

Mother's Day

I went the whole day with my other cousins! There was a lot of commotion and a lot of competition going on, but overall it was another fun day with the family!

All 5 dogs in 1 picture!

Cousin Murphy and Auntie Sugar playing on the peed-on-ball.

Basil watching Cousin K.

Auntie Sugar mistook Basil for a horsey.

Basil didn't care. He had his on the ball.

Basil Meets Baby

Last night, I met the strangest animal. The humans called it a "baby". I don't know what the fuss is all about. Everyone forgot about me and kept tickling and making noises at this baby like it was a puppy. I don't understand why it's so special. All it seemed to do was sit there, sleep, eat and slobbered...errr...sounds familiarrrr. Everyone kept asking if we're going to get one. Get one what? That thing!? I thought mommy and daddy were getting me a brother or sister.

Here's the baby trying to touch me. I sniffed the baby's behind, but I couldn't tell what it was.

Wordless Wednesday

Because my "blue steel" look says it all.

Auntie Sugar

Meet the newest member in our family - Auntie Sugar. Even though she's only a 12 week old chihuahua-yorkie, she's technically my aunt since Grandma B adopted her.

Since she's the newest, I thought I would show her the ropes. First thing! You let me play with your new toys. I have to make sure they are safe nom nom for nom nom you nom nom nom.

Here I am crushing..eerr..I mean playing with Sugar.

What mah? She started it!

Watch out for ths one Sugar. She's bossy!

Here's Sugar again with my beautiful mommy and human cousin.

More pictures of me and my other cousins to come...

HMPH

Mom, I have a bone to pick with you. No pun intended. I was looking for my next possible brother or sister on FBRN when I read this on Spencer Tracy's bio:

"He can sit politely on the couch with his foster mom, and he quickly discovered the resident Frenchies’ soft, heated bed."

EH HEM

Read that again.

SOFT, HEATED BED.

Yes, HEATED.

Where is this soft, heated bed and when can you get me one? Quit holding out on me woman!

Betty & Basil's Play Date

Mommy set up a hot date for me on Sunday with the Beautiful Betty. She cleaned my ears, brushed my fur and taught me the proper way to greet a lady. I knew something was in the air when mommy put out pears and cheese. Betty must have been a real special gal.

After maybe 50 photos, mommy finally got one of both of us together. Don't we look cute together?

When Betty arrived, I properly greeted her by sniffing her behind. Just don't stare! The ladies don't like that.

I took Betty for a walk around to show her my hood. It's a pretty nice place to live. There's lots of other dogs and things to sniff. If we got married, you can move in with me Betty.

Come on Betty! Up here!

Welcome to my house. I like your red harness. (Always compliment her on what she's wearing.)

Like a good host, I offered Betty some water. See Betty. If you stay with me, you can drink all the tap water you want here. I'm a good provider.

I put all the right moves on Betty, but she was so overwrought by my charm that she didn't want to play. I kept jumping around to impress her, but nothing worked.

Come on Betty! Play with me! I'm strong and healthy. I can protect you and you'll never be bored with me.

Plllllleeeeeease play with me. My parents have stable jobs and I have my own crate. I'll even let you sleep on the softer side.

PLAY WITH MEEEE PUUUULLLEASSE!

I can even catch my own prey. Look at this mouse. arghhhh nom nom nom

Before I knew it, it was time for Betty to go home. We had a wonderful time and I hope we can be friends....CALL ME!
